Why use a split (divided) EtCO2/O2 cannula?
A divided cannula keeps oxygen delivery and EtCO2 sampling on separate paths in the facepiece. That supports active, directed oxygenation into the nasal cavity while the monitor samples exhaled gas for EtCO2, instead of flooding the sample path with O2 delivered under the nose.1
