SSCOR 80665 DC Power Cable for S-SCORT III

SKU: SCOR-80665

SSCOR part 80665 is the DC power cable for the S-SCORT III portable suction unit, model 74000. Pacific Biomedical stocks it as SKU SCOR-80665. One end is a vehicle cigarette-lighter plug. The other end plugs into the suction unit. On the model 74000, SSCOR says this cable powers the pump and charges the internal battery from the vehicle.1

Why This Cable:

  • Runs the S-SCORT III, model 74000, from the vehicle and charges its battery at the same time.1
  • Charges and powers the VX-2, model 2310 series.1
  • Powers the DCell, model DM10-001. SSCOR does not list charging for that model.1
  • Leaves the AC wall charger, part 80533, as a separate part. That charger charges the model 74000 battery only. The pump does not run from it.2

How the Vehicle Connection Works:

SSCOR's model 74000 manual tells the crew to plug the DC power cord into the vehicle cigarette-lighter receptacle, or to hard-wire it to the vehicle DC system on a properly fused line ahead of the master switch. While that cord is connected, the vehicle powers the pump and charges the battery. When the cord comes off, the unit switches to its own battery.3

The charging indicator on the model 74000 shows that the unit is receiving power from the vehicle or from the AC charger. It does not show the condition of the battery. SSCOR says to keep the unit connected to a charging source whenever it is not in use, and to turn the pump off after the call so the battery is not left to deep discharge.2

Common Questions:

Does part 80665 charge the S-SCORT III, or only run it?
On the S-SCORT III, model 74000, SSCOR says part 80665 both powers the pump and charges the battery from the vehicle. On the VX-2, 2310 series, it charges and powers. On the DCell, model DM10-001, SSCOR lists it as power only. It is not the AC wall charger.
Is this the same thing as the S-SCORT III charger 80533?
No. Part 80533 is the AC charger with an LED, and SSCOR says it works only with the S-SCORT III, model 74000. That charger charges the battery. The pump does not run from it. Part 80665 is the vehicle DC cable. The model 74000 uses both, for different power sources.
Will this cable charge the batteries in an S-SCORT II?
SSCOR's current page for part 80665 lists the model 74000, the VX-2 2310 series, and the DCell DM10-001. The older S-SCORT II, model 15006, runs on LIFEPAK defibrillator batteries, and that model's manual says its DC power cord does not charge those batteries.4 Do not buy 80665 to recharge a LIFEPAK battery.
Can the cord be hard-wired instead of using the cigarette lighter?
SSCOR's model 74000 manual allows either the cigarette-lighter receptacle or a hard-wired connection to the vehicle DC system on a properly fused line ahead of the master switch. A truck that runs all day can keep the unit charging that way. The charging light shows that power is arriving. It does not show battery health.
Is this an authentic SSCOR cable?
Part 80665 is SSCOR's own DC power cable, the same item number SSCOR sells for the S-SCORT III and the VX-2. Pacific Biomedical stocks it as SKU SCOR-80665. Envi Health also lists item 80665 under a DC charger title. The fitment on this page is the fitment SSCOR prints for 80665.
