The Olympic Papoose Board from CHS USA Inc. is a rigid, metal-free protective stabilization board that holds an infant, child or adult still for dental treatment, X-ray and MRI imaging, and medical procedures. It comes in four sizes by patient age: Small 50510 (infants up to 24 months), Regular 50500 (ages 2 to 6), Large 53600 (ages 6 to 12) and Extra-Large 54610 (teenagers and adults). Each size is a complete set: one board, a padded three-tier flap set, a padded head strap and four arm/wrist straps. MRI safe, X-ray safe, radiolucent and latex free, it secures a patient in under 60 seconds. Protective Stabilization: How the Olympic Papoose Board Is Used

The Olympic Papoose Board works on the splint principle: the patient is held to a rigid board so struggling is suppressed and the scan or treatment can proceed. Application follows a four-step sequence: secure the arms with the Velcro arm straps, close the abdominal flaps, close the leg flaps, then fasten the shoulder flaps and the head strap. The flaps open in any combination to expose the area being treated while the head and arm straps stay fastened, and the board supports supine, prone, Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg positioning.1,2,3

Using it safely, including when protective stabilization is appropriate, informed consent, monitoring, and alternatives, is covered in the clinical guide. The Olympic Papoose Board is listed with the FDA as a Class I pediatric position holder (product code FRP, 21 CFR 880.5680).8,9

Olympic Medical Corp. of Seattle made the board, and Natus Medical acquired Olympic Medical in 2006. Effective October 17, 2022, Canadian Hospital Specialties Limited (CHS) acquired the Natus nursery product lines, Papoose Boards included, and supplies the United States through CHS USA Inc. The part numbers are unchanged across all three names, and CHS now also lists the product as the Olympic Infant Stabilization Board.10,11,1
