Codan BC692 I.V.STAR® 0.2 µm Air-Eliminating Filter, 1 each

SKU: CD-BC692
The Codan BC692 I.V.STAR® is an inline 0.2 µm air-eliminating particulate filter designed for safe infusion of TPN, compounded admixtures, and lipid emulsions. Removes air bubbles, microbial contaminants, and particulate from the fluid path — meeting ASPEN and ASHP guidance for parenteral nutrition safety.

Product Highlights

  • 0.2 µm particulate filtration — removes bacteria, fungi, and particulate matter (sterilizing-grade)
  • Hydrophobic air-eliminating membrane — vents trapped air to prevent air-embolism risk
  • Indicated for total parenteral nutrition (non-lipid), compounded admixtures, antibiotics requiring sterilization
  • Female luer-lock inlet, male luer-lock outlet
  • DEHP-free, latex-free
  • Sterile, single-patient use
  • 1 each

Frequently Asked Questions

When should a 0.2 µm filter be used vs a 1.2 µm?
A 0.2 µm filter is used for sterilizing-grade filtration — appropriate for TPN (without lipids), compounded admixtures, and any infusion where microbial filtration is required. A 1.2 µm filter is required for 3-in-1 TPN containing lipid emulsions, because lipid droplets (approx. 0.5 µm) would clog a 0.2 µm membrane. Refer to ASPEN guidelines for filter selection.
Does the I.V.STAR filter eliminate air embolism risk?
The I.V.STAR incorporates a hydrophobic air-venting membrane that eliminates air from the downstream fluid path — significantly reducing (but not absolutely eliminating) air-embolism risk. Standard IV-line priming and monitoring procedures remain essential.
How often should the filter be changed?
Per INS Standards of Practice and ASPEN guidelines, inline filters should be changed per facility protocol — typically with each new container or per set change interval. Always verify your facility's policy.
Is this set DEHP-free?
Yes. CODAN administration and extension sets are manufactured with non-DEHP TOTM plasticizer tubing. This meets procurement requirements for pediatric, neonatal, and oncology populations where DEHP exposure is restricted per FDA and Joint Commission guidance.
Does this product contain latex?
No. CODAN sets and syringes are manufactured latex-free throughout the fluid path, consistent with current hospital safety standards.
Are these genuine CODAN products?
Yes. Pacific Biomedical stocks authentic CODAN US Corporation product. All items ship new in original CODAN packaging with full manufacturer warranty and QA documentation.
How quickly does this ship?
Most in-stock items ship within 1–2 business days from our warehouse. Expedited and overnight options are available at checkout.
