The RightSpot pH Large Bore Indicator from RightBio Metrics confirms nasogastric (NG) or orogastric (OG) tube placement for large-bore tubes larger than 10 Fr, including the sump and suction tubes used in acute care. Draw a small amount of gastric fluid into the sealed single-use device, and the internal strip changes color in seconds. A reading of 5.5 or below confirms gastric placement. CLIA waived, FDA-listed, billable under CPT 83986QW, and supplied 10 per box by Pacific Biomedical.
Why the Large Bore version

What size tubes is the Large Bore version for?
NG and OG tubes larger than 10 Fr. For tubes 10 Fr or smaller use the Small Bore version, and for ENFit connectors use the ENFit version.
What pH confirms the tube is in the stomach?
A gastric aspirate pH of 5.5 or below (the UK NPSA and ASPEN range is 1 to 5.5). Read the value on the device key and follow the device IFU and your facility's policy. A pH of 6.0 or higher warrants further investigation.
How much gastric fluid do you need?
Under 1 mL. Stop drawing as soon as the color changes, and read within about 2 minutes.
