I-gel Plus Resus Pack

Overview:

The Intersurgical i-gel Plus Resus Pack is a second generation supraglottic airway system available in three adult sizes to accommodate patients from 30 kg to over 90 kg. Each sterile, single-use pack contains an i-gel Plus device, a sachet of lubricant for rapid preparation, an airway support strap for secure fixation, and a 16FG suction tube for gastric access. Specs snapshot: Sizes 3, 4, and 5 with colour coded hook rings (yellow, green, orange) for quick identification, 15mm connector, and enlarged gastric channel.

The i-gel Plus features a non-inflatable cuff made from a soft, gel-like material that conforms to the perilaryngeal anatomy without requiring cuff inflation. This eliminates the steps of cuff deflation before insertion and inflation after placement, shortening preparation time and simplifying the insertion procedure for emergency responders across the full adult patient weight range.

The i-gel Plus Resus Pack represents an advance on the i-gel O2 Resus Pack, incorporating the more advanced i-gel Plus device with the following product improvements.

• Larger gastric channel: The gastric channel diameter has been increased across all sizes (Size 3: 16FG, Sizes 4 and 5: 18FG) to help manage regurgitant fluid and potentially reduce aspiration risk
• Intubation ramp: A new ramp in the airway channel helps guide the tracheal tube at an angle designed for reliable passage through the vocal cords when used as a conduit for fibreoptic-guided intubation
• Longer cuff tip: An extended cuff tip may help enhance the oesophageal seal and, combined with the larger gastric channel, provide improved protection against aspiration
• Supplementary oxygen port: Enables passive oxygenation delivery as part of cardio-cerebral resuscitation (CCR) protocols
• Colour coded hook ring: For use with the included airway support strap to provide an alternative method for securing the device

Clinical and Operational Use:

The i-gel Plus has been designed to facilitate ventilation as part of standard resuscitation protocols, including those designated by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and the American Heart Association (AHA). The insertion technique is instinctive and does not require or benefit from the insertion of fingers or thumbs into the patient's mouth.
